|
Event: Business Pursuits / BAT
Location: London, July 2005
THE EVENT
The Ice Box was approached by Business Pursuits, to create a new concept to be used in a teambuilding exercise. The criteria was to:
Engage all 60 participants (global representatives from BAT) who had been in conferences all day to give them a refreshing break prior to their sit down dinner.
Keep within a 1 hour time restriction
Create an experience that would be fun & interactive.
Keep within budget restrictions.
Be practical and easy to do in a top end hotel (The Grove, Watford )
The client was eager to introduce a ‘never been done before' concept and knowing that The Ice Box are industry leaders, the client was confident to try a new idea which was being introduced by The Ice Box – ‘ ICE BREAKERS' !
THE BUILD UP…
The Ice Box crew consisting of a project manager, 2 sculptors and an assistant, set up the conference room with 12 drip trays, 12 specially designed wooden frames to secure the sculpture in place, buckets, , gloves, chisels and of course 12 x ice carvings of a silhouette horse's head.
A full timeline was prepared in advanced and placed before each team so the time restrictions were well communicated. The teams were then set up into teams and assigned different roles (including head sculptor, assistant sculptors, designer and presenter). From there, they were given a demonstration by the sculpting team and given the task to carve (as a team) the best horse's head possible in 40 minutes.
THE RESULT
100% of the teams achieved the objective of carving a horse's head (or something similar?!) within the time allocated.
The atmosphere and enthusiasm during the carving was fantastic! Participants were all fully engaged in the activity and loved the unique experience.
Ice breakers has since taken off to become the coolest team building activity around!
