Another Icebox First
On 22 May 2007, Omniyat Properties and Zaha Hadid Architects launched the ‘Opus', an innovative commercial and retail development located in Dubai.
To coincide with this, they asked the Icebox to carry out a building reveal of a replica of the Opus in ice underneath the British Museum's spectacular dome, in front of VIP guests and press.
During the 3min unveiling linked with lighting & sound, dozens of ice pieces were chipped away to expose the finished structure. The building was creating using over 20 carving blocks, with a team of 6 icebox sculptors carrying out the dramatic reveal.
Omniyat Properties were so impressed with the unveiling and attention surrounding it that they asked the Icebox to join them at the Medinat Jumeirah Resort in Dubai two weeks later to take part in a second event.
With only a week’s lead-time the Icebox flew out to Dubai working with a local team of sculptors and production crew to complete second reveal – with flawless execution.
Result:
''A huge thank you to Piers, (Icebox Technical Director)
and team for all your hard work - our clients were delighted’’
Safwan El-Roufai – Events Director of Omniyat Properties
